| The U.S. Government is increasingly concerned about the highly infectious strain of avian influenza, H5N1. USAID is working closely with counterparts at the U.S. Departments of State, Health and Human Services, and Agriculture to support efforts to respond to avian influenza.
DASP is providing some support to USAID/OFDA’s efforts related to avian flu, coordinating closely with the Technical Assistance Group. DASP has consulted with the Global Health Bureau on ways to organize for a pandemic response using the principles of the Incident Command System. DASP has also provided technical advice on formatting and organizing guidance for Missions and Embassies related to personal protective equipment for an avian flu response.
