Timber Sale Program Information Reporting System (TSPIRS)
The Timber Sale Program Information Reporting System (TSPIRS) was developed in response to Congressional direction contained in the Conference Committee Report on the 1985 Interior Appropriations Bill. The impetus for this direction was concern over "below-cost" sales, and the desire to have better information for the benefits and costs of selling national forest timber. The system was "pilot-tested" in Fiscal Year (FY) 1987 and 1988, and was officially implemented in FY 1989.
