Sawtimber Sold on the National Forests Summaries

These reports show total volumes and values of sawtimber sold the National Forest System as a whole, and by Region^\1, on a quarterly basis. The data for sawtimber sold comes from the Forest Service's Automated Timber Sale Accounting system (ATSA). Information about each sale is entered into ATSA at the field level. District, Forest, Region, and national-level reports are generated every three months. Data for Fiscal Year 1997 and earlier has not been prepared for web access.

The Forest Service's fiscal year begins each October 1st. Thus, the quarters end every December 31st, March 31st, June 30th, and September 30th. It takes about 1-1/2 to 2 months following the end of each quarter for the Forest Service to evaluate the data collected, correct any errors found, and generate the reports, which are then made available to the public.
