Suppose Software
Suppose 2 is the latest version of the Suppose graphical user interface to the FVS modeling system. Improvements in this latest version include the activation of previously inactive features, an updated menu that gives the user the ability to set default parameters, an updated main window that allows the user to see the simulation contents, and database connectivity options so that Suppose can automatically read FVS input databases. Suppose 2 will read previous data formats as well as the latest Database formatted datasets.
The following files are available to install or update the Suppose component of the Forest Vegetation Simulator program suite. These files only include Suppose and files that directly support the Suppose graphical interface.
-
Suppose Program (supp202.exe, 2.62 MB, updated: 01-15-2013) - the most recent version of the Suppose program files. This version
includes updates and fixes problems with previous versions of the Suppose interface.
Suppose Installation Instructions
Suppose will run on any of the current Windows platforms, Windows 2000, XP, and Vista. The following assumes that you will be loading Suppose on your C: drive. You may install the programs on another drive if you wish. Updating a previous installation of Suppose simply involves extracting the compressed file's contents.
- Download the compressed, self-extracting Suppose file above to a directory on your PC. This folder's location is not critical and can be wherever you choose to put downloaded files on your PC.
- Using Windows Explorer, go to the downloaded data file, and double-click the file to begin the extraction process. A WinZip Self-Extractor dialog box will appear.
- The WinZip Self-Extractor box will indicate the specific default unzip folder is "C:\Fvsbin". If you have installed Suppose on another drive, such as a "D:\" partition, then change the "Unzip To Folder: " entry to the desired folder location, such as "D:\Fvsbin". Leave the "Overwrite files without prompting" box checked.
- When extraction is complete, a button box will appear indicating how many files were unzipped and whether the extraction was successful. Click the "OK" button. Click the "Close" button on the WinZip Self-Extractor dialog box to complete the unzipping. Suppose has been updated!
