Duncan Lutes, FMI Fire Ecologist, is a key member of an interagency project team that is responsible for developing computer software to keep track of inventory and monitoring data. The program integrates methods and protocols that are used by several government agencies and research scientists to track sampling efforts in many types of natural-resource monitoring projects. From August 12-16, 2007, Duncan facilitated the beta-testing of the software. Testors from six different government agencies and two independent contracting companies met in Boise, Idaho, to try out the program and offer suggestions for improvement. Currently, the program is scheduled to be released for public use in mid-October. Development and training are funded by the National Interagency Fuels Coordination Group.
