Weather Information Management System

What is WIMS?

The Weather Information Management System (WIMS) combines the power of the computer and the accessibility of complex weather information.  WIMS is the host for the National Fire Danger Rating System (NFDRS) and helps manage information stored in the National Interagency Fire Management Integrated Database (NIFMID).

Who Uses WIMS?

Over 1,800 WIMS logon IDs have been issued to many different agencies, including:

• U.S.D.A. Forest Service
• National Weather Service
• Bureau of Land Management
• National Park Service
• Bureau of Indian Affairs
• U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
• U.S. Department of Energy
• State and local agencies
• Private land organizations
