SitReport Frequently Asked Questions
 |
Why don't any dispatch offices show in
the pick list after logging into SIT on the "Welcome to SIT" page?
 |
Be sure you logged in using lower case
letters in the user name. (i.e. the user name "OPS$SITREPORT" needs to be
in lower case "ops$sitreport".) You can verify this by looking at the user
name following the "Welcome to SIT" text at the top of the page. If you
have logged in with an upper case character you will need to exit all versions of your web
browser software and then start a new version of the browser and return to the
famweb.usda.gov web page. If you are not prompted for your username and password
again, you didn't close all the windows for browser.

 |
What time zone is used for the
default date entry fields?
 |
Currently the Sitreport application uses the
Central Time Zone, because the server is located in Kansas City. Therefore on the
Welcome to SIT page and the Report list page the date in the "Enter the desired
date" field is defaulted to today's date based on the Central Time Zone not your
local time zone.

How do I update the Year to Date
values and know that my changes have been saved in the database?
 |
If you change the Year to Date values on the
Year to Date entry screen, you need to go to the reports page to verify the data that is
stored in the database. If you want to see the change on the Year to Date entry
screen, you need to submit the changes for the Year to Date entry screen for yesterday,
then return to the Year to Date entry screen for today.
|
|
 |
The Year to Date screen did no update?
 |
The Year to Date screen was probabily not
submitted. Resubmit the page. If the problem persists contact the Fire
Applications Helpdesk (800.253.5559 or fire?/wo_nifc@fs.fed.us).
|
|
 |
Why is the data that I have entered
not appearing in the reports?
 |
The screen were probably not submitted.
Make sure you use the "Submit" button at the bottom of each data entry
screen, before using the tabs at the top of the screen. If there is no data for
large incidents or planned prescribed fires, you can use the tabs at the top of the screen
to move to the next data entry screen.
|
|
 |
Why does "NR" show up in the
report in the fire danger block?
 |
NR stands for "Not Reported".
The NR showes up when there is no data for that unit for that given day, and is
based on the last report date by each unit. If the "Submit" button was not
pressed for each screen which data was collected including the Year To Date date entry
screen than an "NR" will be displayed in the Fire Danger block of the report.

|
 |
After submitting the data from the
Large Incident screen, I get an error message like:
OWS-05101: Execution failed due to Oracle error 6502
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error
ORA-06512: at line 1
 |
This error is generally caused by putting a
character such as a $ (dollar sign) in a numeric field. This error is also generated
when too many characters are entered in to a text field, such as the Remarks and On-call
text on the Remarks data entry screen. In the case of too many characters in the
text field, use the counters associated with the text field entry box to see if you have
entered more than the maximum allowed. You can use the "Back" button on
the browser to get back to the data entry screen that created this error. The data
you entered should be there.

Why doesn't my WIMS
password work with SIT?
 |
Even though the SIT and WIMS are both using
the Kansas City Computer Center (NITC), they use seperate logon procedures. With SIT
you log in directly to Oracle and WIMS you log into the mainframe and use the WIMS
application to interact with Oracle

Why do I have to
refresh my brower each time I enter it? I have loaded Office 2000 recently.
 |
The problem is really with Internet Explorer
5.0. For those who have loaded Internet Explorer 5.0 (which was included in Office
2000) click Tools Option from the toolbar, choose Internet Options, then from the
General tab, in the Tempory Internet files block, choose Settings. In the
Settings window, under where it says Check for newer versions of stored pages: check
either Every visit to the page OR Every time you start Internet Exporer. Be sure to say OK
at each window to save your changes.
