Parachutes, packs, special padded protective clothing, and jump helmets are provided for all jumpers. Recruits are required to furnish boots at their own expense. These boots must meet USDA-Forest Service jumping specifications (logger style boots with a 1" heel). Development and manufacturing of new and improved equipment is an ongoing project.
