Our Mission

It is the mission of the Modoc Interagency Hotshot Crew to provide a Highly trained, Highly motivated, twenty person, Type 1 Handcrew. It is also understood that this Crew will be available as a national resource and be ready for travel anywhere in the U.S. and abroad on a moments notice.

Where we are Located

Image of the Map of North East California and link to a larger map of the area.The Modoc Interagency Hotshot Crew is based in Canby California. Canby is a small ranching community located in the North Eastern portion of the state. It is approximately 80 miles south of Klamath Falls, Oregon and 20 miles west of Alturas. Alturas is the closest full service community with a Hospital, Schools, groceries, etc.

The Hotshot Compound has a modern administrative office, large workshop, Crew fire equipment Cache, Saw room, and a Weight/Training room under development. Crew housing is available at the Hotshot Base, accommodations for twenty-two people in four separate buildings, with a separate female building. The Barracks facilities are shared with the Engine Group that's also stationed in town.
