Midewin IHC Mission & Core Values

Image of the Midewin Interagency Hotshot Crew logo. The Midewin Interagency Hotshot Crew’s mission is to provide land management agencies with a safe, highly skilled and productive wildland fire management resource. The key components to accomplishing this mission are the three tenets this crew lives by: Integrity, Pride and Unity. These qualities are central to the development of both the individual and the crew. Crew leadership starts with existing overhead, and continues with the development of each crewmember as future leaders. In all things, integrity, pride and unity are fostered and utilized for the purpose of building a safe and hard-working crew of highly skilled professionals.

As a professional wildland fire fighting crew, Midewin will continue to build upon the following core values

Safety - Safety will never be compromised, regardless of the work at hand.

Tradition, Pride and Respect - Don’t rest on the Hotshot name!

Physical fitness and mental toughness - Rise to the occasion, strive to be the best.

Productivity - An honest day of work in return for an honest day’s pay, regardless of assignment.

Unity and Diversity - Communication and teamwork get the job done.

Professionalism - Constantly being watched and evaluated… the details matter.

Training - MIHC is committed to training quality leaders, both in the classroom and on the line.
