The Lewis & Clark Interagency Hotshot Crew is a Region 1 IHC, hosted by the Lewis & Clark National Forest (LCF). Currently housed and operating out of the LCF Supervisor’s Office, located in Great Falls, Montana. In service as the regions only training crew, they operate as a national shared resource for wildland fire suppression, fire use, and prescribed fire; emphasizing on invaluable field experience and on the job training. Beneath the overhead team, the crew is comprised
of a group of 4-6 seasonal employees and an annual compliment of 6-8 detailers.
The core seasonal crew compliment ensures a less than 50% turnover rate
(invaluable for crew cohesion year to year), availability of peer learning/training,
and an opportunity for entry level employment. The detailer compliment
is made up predominantly of primary firefighters from all regions, agencies,
and experience levels. The ratio and diversity of the crew insures a valuable
training atmosphere, with optimum OJT operations including but not limited
to: CRWB, FFT1, HECM, RXI2, RXB2, FELB, FELC, FEMO, and other crew and
command positions.
