Flathead IHC History
 

The Flathead Hotshots were organized in 1965 and stationed at the Glacier View Ranger District's Big Creek Work Center. Fawn FireIn 1993, the crew moved to the Hungry Horse Ranger District office to become part of the Three Forks Zone. This move allowed the crew to have a much larger cache facility with plenty of room for equipment, offices, and vehicle parking. Some government housing is available on a first-come first-serve basis.

Since its first season of duty on the Flathead National Forest, the Flathead Hotshot crew has been on 406Flathead Hotshots hiking on a fire. fires for 2319 days. Work in fire does not end with the summer. During the winter, the crew’s overhead continues work in fire management in addition to attending to the business of the crew. The Superintendent and the two Assistants will act as instructors for fire suppression classes and also provide expertise in prescribed fire.
