Dick Friedlander of Pettis County Fire
District explains that his department was started with VFA monies and
how it is necessary to have the funding for things like wildland fire
trucks.

Photo of wildfire control equipment purchased
with VFA monies is displayed in the rear of a converted FEPP vehicle at
the Perryville Fire Department.

VFA funds were used to install dry (non-pressurized)
hydrants. The result is homeowners sve at least 14% on their homeowners
insurance.

SCBA's - selfcontained breathing apparatus -
are vital pieces of equipment, these were purchased with VFA funds.

Joe Auffert shows off a leaf blower purchased
with VFA monies. This equipment can replace up to 5 people in constructing
a fireline in wooded areas. Located at the Howell fire District.

This strike team can more effectively do initial
attack because they have access to VFA grant funds.
