FEPP Success Stories - Georgia
"... Still Serving the American Taxpayer!"Georgia Forestry CommissionThe Georgia Forestry Commission has converted 15 FEPP "Water Buffaloes" (400 gallon trailer, tank; NSN 2330-01-108-7367) for use as Mop-up water sources. They were used a lot on a very recent fire in McIntosh County on the Georgia coast. The Blount's Pasture Fire burned 3500 acres just north of the town of Darien, endangering 100's of homes, some in a National Historic Area. Thankfully no homes were lost, only a few outbuildings and an old skating rink being used as a community center. The picture features one of the converted water buffaloes. ****************** Contact your state FEPP Manager or State Forester with questions or comments concerning the FEPP program. |
