"... Still Serving the American Taxpayer!"

Arkansas Forestry Commission

August 30, 2002: today the Wrightsville Volunteer Fire Department in Pulaski County, just south of Little Rock, took possession of a FEPP truck.  This fire truck was serviced, repaired, painted and equipped with a new 250-gallon slip-on fire fighting unit, red light, and siren.  It replaced a vehicle that was loaned to the department several years ago and was painted and equipped by the department.  The total cost of all equipment attached to the truck was $10,017.32 and the Arkansas Forestry Commission financed the cost interest-free.  The Commission charges nothing for the labor on the truck, and since the vehicle is Federal Excess it is on a 50 year no cost lease.  This program helps hundreds of fire department in the state each year. Without the help of the Department of Defense, and the US Forest Service, this kind of vehicle would not be available to help small communities with wildfire problems.
