Matzka, P.J. and Kellogg, L.D. 2000. An economic model for evaluating factors affecting biomass reduction and forest restoration. In: Proceedings of the Council of Forest Engineering/Canadian Woodlands Forum Conference, September 11-14, 2000, Kelowna, B.C.
While forest managers recognize the need for biomass reduction and forest restoration, little is known about the economic trade-offs for alternative methods that reduce biomass.
Matzka and Kellogg are constructing a model that will allow forest managers to compare many options and enhance their ability to make sound economic decisions. This model was tested using data from production studies in the Blue Mountains of northeast Oregon.
