Do you have extra space in your building? Would it be nice to share the cost of operating your office with another agency? Do you need a customer service location that's closer to your customers than your main office? Co-location may be the tool you're looking for.

Do you need to provide basic customer services in a community where you don't have an office? A storefront is a small space providing limited services that you can use to maintain a Forest Service presence in an otherwise unserved community.

Does it make sense to partner with other Federal, state, or local agencies or businesses to provide information to visitors who don't know or care which agency manages their favorite campsite? Service centers allow several agencies or businesses to work together to serve their customers.

Is your office struggling to find enough space for employees? Can some work be done somewhere other than your main office? Do employees need to routinely provide services at several locations? Telecommuting may help solve some of your problems.

Service First is a partnership authority among the Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service that makes it easier for these agencies to share employees and space, and better coordinate their work.
