Subject: Seventh Biennial Forest Service Remote Sensing Applications Conference Preliminary Program and Regitration Form

To: Regional Foresters, Stations Directors, Area Director, and IITF Director

Enclosed is the preliminary program and registration form for the Seventh Biennial Forest Service Remote Sensing Applications Conference. The conference will be held the week of April 6 in Nassau Bay, Texas , at the Hilton Hotel and Marina. The goal of this conference is to share information on practical field applications of remote sensing and related geospatial technologies. A web page has been developed for this conference which contains additional information and updates. Please visit this web page at http://www.fs.fed.us/eng/rsac/rs98.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Hilton Hotel in Nassau Bay. Attendees will need to make their own reservations by March 23. The Government room rate is $79 including the 7 percent local tax and is for a single or double. Tax exempt forms will be needed to eliminate the 6 percent State tax. We plan on having the forms available prior to the conference and at the on-site registration area. The corporate rate for this event is $99 exclusive of tax. The Nassau Bay Hilton can be reached at 1-800-634-4320. When making your reservations, please refer to this conference .

This conference is being co-sponsored by the Arthur Temple College of Forestry, Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA). The SFA will be collecting the registration fees so please send your registration form and payment to them. It is important to register by March 2 for several reasons. Since we will be reserving trams for the field visit to the Johnson Space Center, an accurate count is needed. After the March 2 date, anyone wishing to go on the Johnson Space Center field visit will be on a strictly space available basis. Additionally, by providing registration information early, we can have conference materials ready for each attendee and a long wait at the registration area can be avoided.

We want to thank, in advance, the people who will be making presentations, providing vendor information, and participating in the poster exhibit. By all accounts, RS '98 promises to be an outstanding event.
