Track: Matching the Process to the Problem: Navigating Process Choices

Description:
This session will explore use of a “Blue Ribbon Task Force-Stakeholder” model of decision making to address highly polarized, complex public disputes where the potential for achieving consensus among stakeholders is in doubt. California’s recent experience with this model in two contexts, the Marine Life Protection Act Initiative and the Delta Vision effort, will serve as the foundation for presentations and discussion. Panelists will share their experiences as task force member, project director, stakeholder group facilitator and external evaluator and will explore potential criteria for selecting and designing a task force-stakeholder model with session participants.

Primary Target Audience(s): ECR Practitioners/Attorney Mediators • Government Staff (Federal, State, Local and Tribal)
