Mixed conifer (Douglas fir and
Ponderosa pine) stand before treatment (above), which included thinning to
reduce the number of trees. Forest health was also improved by reducing the
number of trees per acre and reducing the hazardous fuel build up caused by
dense forest stands. Prior to treatment, there were 223 trees per acre.
