POLYSTATS

Calculate
statistics for each polygon in a coverage. The statistics are:
average WIDTH and LENGTH.

**POLYSTATS
<cover>**

**ARGUMENTS**

**<cover>**
- the input polygon coverage.

**NOTES**

MBC runs from
the Arc module of ArcInfo.

The statistics
are stored in the <cover> PAT in the following
items:

WIDTH - Average
WIDTH of a polygon is approximated by the minimum dimension of the rectangle
that has the same perimeter and area as does the polygon. When the
polygon is similar to a circle, then the square root of area is used
instead.

LENGTH -
Average LENGTH of a polygon is approximated by the maximum dimension of the
rectangle that has the same perimeter and area as does the
polygon. When the polygon is similar to a circle, then the square
root of area is used instead.

**EXAMPLES**

*Arcplot:
&run polystats*

Usage:
POLYSTATS <cover>

1) To
calculate polygon statistics for a river coverage:

*Arc:
&run polystats river_cov*
