TAXONOMY : 
The currently accepted scientific name for russet buffaloberry is
Shepherdia canadensis (L.) Nutt. (Elaeagnaceae).  There is one
recognized form which produces only yellow fruit:  S. canadensis forma
xanthocarpa Rehd. [58].
