Plain & Simple! Document Writing
Feedback & Reviews from Past Participants
2005
Last week I attended the 'Plain and Simple Document Writing'
session led by (Dr.) Jud Monroe, ... I found the session well
worth the time- very informative and potentially helpful (now
I have to follow through). Dr. Monroe primarily writes NEPA documents
for a living, and say he is "quick and cheap, and has never
been litigated for NEPA violations". He (also) offered his
methods for organizing and advice on planning to write NEPA documents
(make and write from tables). We also spent considerable time
talking about how people read, which should influence how one
writes (surprise!) It was one of those times when you think "I
should have had this many years ago, with a repeat on a regular
basis"! Anyway, I always like to hear of worthwhile sessions
and thought I'd provide some comment and endorsement. For those
who do much technical writing, especially NEPA writing, this would
be most helpful. Plus, we found out many interesting tidbits;
example- the spellchecker and grammatical 'helper' in MS Word
comes from Air Force maintenance and repair manual guidelines.
It can't handle some of the phrasing we use if it would not be
appropriate for describing repair of an F15!
