Managing Forested Ecosystems (MFE)
Objectives:
- describe ecosystem management principles;
- apply these principles in developing forest
plans for land management agencies.
Subjects
include defining ecosystem management, landscape ecology, aquatic
monitoring, forest health, ecological land classification, adaptive
management, stand dynamics, and silviculture in ecosystem based
management. Teaching methods include lecture and field trips by
Forest Service, academia, and forest industry personnel; round
table discussions, activities, and exercises. Target audience:
silviculturists and biologists (aquatic, terrestrial, and botanical).
Held at Clemson University and Litchfield Beach.
